Beth Myers
I provide a safe and nurturing environment where we can explore feelings
and the impact they have on our lives. I have a warm, nonjudgmental,
informal and interactive style. I honor your values and beliefs (including
those within a spiritual framework) as we explore how they may pertain to
behavior which is helpful or harmful. I often use humor as a means to
maintain safety and balance in our work together.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor. I have a masters degree in marriage and family therapy,
with an emphasis in gerontology. I have extensive experience in working
with all aspects of grief and loss, and I am certified through the Association
for Death Education and Counseling and the American Academy of
Bereavement. I have worked throughout my career with older adults in
individual and group settings as well as community workshops.
I also have extensive experience in trauma recovery with victims of
domestic violence and other violent crimes, and with adult survivors of
childhood trauma and abuse. I have worked extensively with perpetrators
of domestic violence and abuse, and I have worked with parents to heal the
effects of trauma and abuse on their children. I am certified through the
International Association of Trauma Professionals, and a graduate of the
Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner
training.
My previous career was in human resources, and I have a Master of Science
degree in Business Administration. I have worked with staff and senior
executives in the corporate environment, the public sector, and nonprofit
agencies.
